This page describes the text messaging program operated by Steve Guerra for Cameron County Judge (the “Campaign,” “we,” “us”) and how we handle the personal information you provide to us.

SMS Terms & Conditions

1. Program Description

Steve Guerra for Cameron County Judge operates a recurring text messaging program to share campaign updates, event and volunteer invitations, election and voting reminders, and information about community initiatives in Cameron County, Texas. This is a political campaign messaging program. It is not a commercial or promotional program, and we do not sell any product or service.

2. How You Join (Consent)

You will only receive text messages from us if you have given us your express consent to do so — by submitting your mobile number through a form on this website, by signing a petition, pledge card, or sign-up sheet, by texting a keyword to one of our campaign numbers, or by otherwise providing your number to a campaign representative and agreeing to receive texts.

Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of volunteering, donating, or participating in any campaign activity. You may decline or withdraw consent at any time without affecting your ability to take part in the campaign.

3. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies. Message volume typically increases in the weeks immediately before an election.

4. Cost

Message and data rates may apply. The Campaign does not charge for these messages, but your mobile carrier’s standard message and data rates apply to every message you send and receive. Contact your wireless provider for details about your plan.

5. How to Opt Out (STOP)

You may cancel at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. We also honor END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, QUIT, and REVOKE. After you send one of these keywords, we will send a single confirmation message and you will receive no further texts from that campaign program.

If you would like to rejoin later, you may text START or sign up again through this website.

6. How to Get Help (HELP)

For help, reply HELP to any message you receive from us, or contact us at campaign@votesteveguerra.com or (956) 479-6040. Replying HELP returns our contact information and a reminder of how to opt out.

7. Carriers and Delivery

Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery of text messages is subject to effective transmission by your wireless service provider and is outside the Campaign’s control. This program is supported by major U.S. carriers, but carriers are not responsible for the content of our messages.

8. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and the account holder of, or authorized to use, the mobile number you provide.

Privacy Policy

9. Information We Collect

The Campaign collects personal information — such as your name, mobile phone number, email address, mailing address, and any message you send us — only when you voluntarily provide it to us through web forms, sign-up sheets, petitions, events, keyword opt-ins, or direct communication with campaign staff and volunteers.

When you exchange text messages with us, we also retain the content and timestamps of those messages, and records of your consent and any opt-out request, in order to operate the program and to document compliance with applicable law.

10. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to communicate with you about this campaign: to send campaign updates, election and voting reminders, event and volunteer opportunities, and information about community initiatives in Cameron County; to respond to questions you send us; and to maintain the records described above. We do not use your data for any purpose outside the scope of this campaign.

11. Mobile Information Sharing (Carrier Requirement)

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate the campaign — for example, our text messaging platform — and only to the extent necessary for them to perform that work on our behalf. These providers are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes. We may also disclose information where required by law or by campaign finance and election reporting obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

12. Data Retention and Your Choices

We retain your information for as long as needed to operate the campaign and to satisfy any recordkeeping obligations that apply to us, after which it is deleted or de-identified. Records of opt-out requests are retained so that we can continue to honor them.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you by emailing campaign@votesteveguerra.com. Requesting deletion of your mobile number will also remove you from the text messaging program.

13. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this page from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
